Mapping of flow over complex terrain

The WEFL's wind tunnels have been used in a number of studies of characteristics of wind flow over complex terrain.  In the investigation illustrated above, near surface wind speed measurements assisted the sponsor in optimal siting of wind turbines for power generation.  The influence of trees on power availability near each turbine site was also evaluated.
