Dispersion in thermally non-neutral flow

Many atmospheric stability conditions have been simulated at the WEFL.  Most investigations which require thermal control are carried out in the Meteorological Wind Tunnel (MWT).  The illustration above depicts the interaction between a cooling tower plume and releases from a nuclear reactor complex in a stable boundary layer.  To simulate stable atmospheric conditions, the wind tunnel floor was cooled while the air flow was heated.
